Code of Conduct

ListenCast is dedicated to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone, regardless of their background, identity, or experience. We believe that a diverse and respectful community fosters innovation and collaboration.

This Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for all those who participate in our community, both online and offline, and the consequences for unacceptable behavior.

Our Values:

  • Respect: We treat each other with respect, empathy, and consideration.
  • Inclusivity: We welcome and support people of all backgrounds and identities.
  • Collaboration: We work together to achieve common goals and share knowledge.
  • Openness: We encourage open communication and constructive feedback.
  • Responsibility: We take responsibility for our actions and their impact on others.

Expected Behavior:

  • Participate in an authentic and active way. In doing so, you contribute to the health and longevity of this community.  
  • Exercise consideration and respect in your speech and actions.
  • Attempt collaboration before conflict.
  • Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior and speech.  
  • Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow participants.
  • Alert community leaders if you notice a dangerous situation, someone in distress, or violations of this Code of Conduct, even if they seem inconsequential.  
  • Remember that community event venues may be shared with members of the public; please be respectful to all patrons of these locations.  

Unacceptable Behavior:

Unacceptable behavior includes, but is not limited to:  

  • Harassment, discrimination, or intimidation based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, age, or other characteristics.
  • Offensive comments or jokes.
  • Personal attacks or insults.
  • Public or private harassment.
  • Publishing others’ private information without their consent.
  • Trolling, insulting/derogatory comments, and personal or political attacks.
  • Unwelcome sexual attention or advances.
  • Any other conduct that could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting.
  • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behaviors.  

Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior:

If you engage in unacceptable behavior, community leaders may take any action they deem appropriate, including:

  • Warning you to stop the behavior.
  • Temporarily or permanently banning you from the community.
  • Reporting the incident to relevant authorities.

Reporting Violations:

If you experience or witness unacceptable behavior, please report it to [Contact Person/Email Address/Reporting Form]. All reports will be handled confidentially and with discretion.

When reporting an incident, please provide as much detail as possible, including:

  • Your contact information.
  • The names of any individuals involved.
  • The date and time of the incident.
  • A detailed description of the incident.
  • Any supporting evidence (e.g., screenshots, logs).

Scope:

This Code of Conduct applies to all community spaces, including but not limited to:

  • Online forums and chat rooms.
  • Mailing lists.
  • Issue trackers.
  • Code repositories.
  • In-person events and meetups.

Changes to this Code of Conduct:

We may update this Code of Conduct from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Code of Conduct on this page.
